Albany County Public Library, the ACPL Foundation, and the Friends of the Library are excited to announce that the October newsletter is transitioning to an email version. The February & May newsletters will be available in print and online. Read more for library updates, upcoming events, and a donor survey. Plus, mark your calendars for the next Friends of the Library sale!

Library Updates

  • Reconfigured space to expand the Children's Area (see photo, above)
  • Welcomed parenting expert, Hunter Clarke-Fields, for an author talk and free parenting workshop
  • Hosted a family-friendly Homecoming tailgate for more than 300 people
  • Visited neighborhoods and schools with ALBY, the bookmobile
  • In just 2 months:
    • Checked out over 36,000 materials
    • Signed up more than 400 people for library cards
    • Had over 8,000 visits to the library and 3,000+ attendees at programs

Program Highlights

Healthy Transitions Together

October 21 from 9am - 12pm at the Laramie Plains Civic Center South Gym. A free community event to connect families, caregivers, and kids with health and wellness resources. Provided by the Albany County Early Development Coalition.

"On the Move" A Group Exercise for Improved Mobility in Older Adults - Mondays & Wednesdays starting Oct. 16 at 12pm

Group exercise developed by physical therapists to help you walk further and with confidence. A collaboration with Healthier Wyoming and the UW Center for Aging. Registration is required. 

Adults:
Monthly Author Talks - Oct. 17 & Nov. 14 at 7pm
Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt - Stop by the library to solve the mystery and be entered into a raffle for a prize!

Adult Book Clubs - 

  • NEW! Listen with the Library: Each month ACPL will purchase 100 audiobook licenses of a book on OverDrive. Join us for an audiobook available without a hold. There is no meeting for this book club. Simply enjoy the fact you are listening alongside other ACPL patrons. 
  • After Hours: Last Tuesday of the month at 7pm at ACPL
  • Murder Club (True Crime): Second Thursday at 6pm at ACPL
  • Mostly Cozy Mystery: First Monday at 2pm at ACPL
Teens:

YAK! - Thursdays at 3:45pm

Join us for crafts, games, and more! For ages 12-17. YAK-TOAST is at the UWYO Art Museum on Nov. 2nd. All other dates are at ACPL.

Children:
Book Babies - Tuesdays at 10am in the Children's Area

Test Tube Tuesdays at 3:45pm                                                     Open to elementary/middle school-aged children. Hands-on activity for children to learn about STEAM-related topics. 

Storytime Playgroup - Thursdays at 10am in the Children's Area 

Preschool Playtime - Saturdays at 10am in the Meeting Room

An opportunity to bring preschoolers to the library for shared playtime.  There will be stations set up for preschool learning opportunities in literacy, STEAM, and gross motor and fine motor play.  

Slumberkins Family Storytime - Saturdays at 11am in the Children's Area
Lego Club - Saturdays at 1pm in the Meeting Room
